Background and Objective: Following the assessment of educational requirements for nursing personnel, supervisors must develop appropriate training plans. Ensuring nurses' competence in service provision is crucial for maintaining healthcare quality. Furthermore, the National Hospital Accreditation Standards stipulate that one of the training supervisor's responsibilities is to evaluate the general skills of newly recruited nurses and determine the requisite skill level for commencing work in the clinic. Consequently, newly recruited nurses were evaluated from 2020 to 2023 to ascertain their general skill status. Methods: This cross-sectional study encompassed all newly recruited nurses from 2020 to 2023, who were assessed using a valid and reliable instrument. The instrument comprised 127 measures of skill, including patient care, resuscitation, hemovigilance, patient safety, corona, suction, medication, patient education, and patient communication. Findings: Of the total participants, 62.5% were female and 37.5% were male, with a mean skill score of 39.6%. The minimum and maximum scores were 15% and 59.8%, respectively. Moreover, no statistically significant difference was observed between gender, prior student work experience, academic GPA, and type of university, with the score obtained by the newly recruited nurses. The test was conducted in nine areas: suction, cardiac patient care, resuscitation, hemovigilance, patient education, safety, communication with the patient, corona, and medication. The highest score with an average of 70.63% is related to medication and the lowest score is related to 26.48%. It was to suction. Conclusion: The study revealed that 16.7% of participants achieved a good score, 77.1% attained an average score, and 6.2% received a poor score. Therefore, it is recommended that these newly recruited nurses be provided with a review of critical educational points relevant to clinical practice prior to commencing work and that an entrance examination be administered to ensure the consolidation of learning.
