Medical Education Journal mededj 2322-4940 2345-5497 10.22088/mededj 2018 6 1 The Views of Environmental Health Engineering Graduates Working in Mazandaran Province, on Compliance of Curriculum Content with Occupational Requirements Hatameh Babaie Zahra Geraili Fateme Asgharzadeh Hosseinali Asgharnia BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Due to the wide scope of the roles and activities of environmental health experts and in response to the extensive educational needs of experts, the content of educational materials should be designed according to these professional roles and activities in order to carry out the responsibilities associated with this organizational post. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the level of coordination of syllabus of Environmental Health Engineering (EHE) BS with job requirements from the viewpoints of postgraduates in Mazandaran province. METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in health centers of Mazandaran province in 2016. Totally, 80 students were randomly selected among EHE graduates using cluster sampling method. A researcher-made questionnaire whose reliability was evaluated based on internal consistency and Cronbach's alpha coefficient and validity was confirmed by experts, was used to collect data. Data were analyzed using SPSS22 and descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage of frequency). FINDINGS: Among available courses, "food inspection and control" (from the viewpoints of 56.3%) had the most applicable in terms of content and practical skills and "pump motor in water and wastewater facilities (from the viewpoints of 75%)" and "utilization and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities (from the viewpoints of 75%)" had the least application. CONCLUSION: Some syllabi of EHE BS's courses are not fully coordinated with job requirements of this field. Mastering technical skills self-evaluation as a powerful and dynamic tools and do it plays a key role in ensuring the quality of education and professional development. METHODS: The overall structure of the questionnaire, in line with the current rules package and upstream transformation and innovation of medical education, specialized knowledge, educational planning skills, teaching skills, management skills course and assessment of students ' skills and attention to community needs, health problems and providing training in traditional medicine. After collecting the opinions of stakeholders, analyze it and search again in the sources, and also confirm the validity of the formal content and inventory by the Assembly of experts, the staff of the Faculty the final version of the questionnaire was prepared. FINDINGS: This form can be used with the provision of feedback to make them aware of the way faculty members toward their strengths and weaknesses the activities, in order to improve, modify and improve the performance of the necessary training, planning and building new structures on the course to empower members of academic staff in cases of rated performance weaknesses based on the results of the evaluation design and implementation. Failure understanding and awareness of the goals of research programs including essential tools that should be delivered to policy makers of research. METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out to determine barriers to research from viewpoint of faculty members of the School of Dentistry, Babol University of Medical Science in 2015. To collect data, a questionnaire consisted of demographic and items in five-point sets up. To analyze the data, related statistical tests were used. SPSS version 20 software used and significant level was considered 0.05. FINDINGS: Socio-cultural field with highest score was the most barrier field and compiled project field with lowest score known as lowest barrier between other fields. Mean score of items between of the field of compiled project and socio-cultural with other fields, mean score of items of socio-cultural field between males and females and mean score of items of compiled project and socio-cultural fields between different educational groups showed significant statistical difference. CONCLUSION: Researchers in any scientific discipline according to their own experiences and other researchers, must reveal weaknesses and shortcomings. Positive attitudes can lead to increase students' satisfaction with the field of study and thereby foster the more effective and interested of human capital. The aim of this study was to determine the attitude of first-year students of physiotherapy towards their field of study and future career in Babol University of Medical Sciences. METHODS: This applied resaerch, in a descriptive-analytical method, was conducted in three years sequentially. The sample size of study was 61 of the first year of physiotherapy students. Data were collected by a questionnaire including demographic information and 25 five-choice questions. Finally, Data were analyzed by descriptive tests, T-test and Pearson tests using SPSS V-16 software. FINDINGS: The mean of students' attitude score was obtained 77.62±9.66, respectively, indicates positive attitude of students to their field of study and future career. Individual interest score (self-concept) was obtained 7.76±1.47 for the field of study, which indicates a relatively good interest of the students. Also, There was a significant correlation between these two variables. CONCLUSION: The attitude of physiotherapy students towards their field of study and future career is relatively positive. A dynamic and purposive relationship between the faculty members and students through methods which are consistent with the students’ needs is necessary. The present study was undertaken to determine consulting needs of students at rehabilitation faculty of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences in 2016. METHODS: In this descriptive-analytic study performed following a cross-sectional approach, a total of 144 students at the rehabilitation faculty participated. The used instrument in this research was two questionnaires on demographic information and consulting preferences from the students’ point of view. Validity of the questionnaires was confirmed through content validity test, and reliability of those were confirmed by calculating Cronbach’s alpha. Obtained data was analyzed using SPSS 23 software at a significance level of 0.05 FINDINGS: The students evaluated job requirements (average = 2.65±0.66) and emotional-mental needs (average= 2.65±0.36) as the most wanted consulting needs, while the least wanted consulting needs were those in the scope of students’ “family and marriage” (2.36±0.66). On average, the students were 20.53±1.42 year old. 91.5% of the students were from Hamedan Province. 94.8% of the participants were single and 89.6% of them lived in dormitories. All of the respondents were unemployed, with the average number of passed units being 53.91±33.03 at an average GPA of 16.60±0.98. Consulting needs of the students were found to be different in different disciplines in terms of some aspects of educational needs (reduced exam anxiety) (p=0.018) and family and marriage needs (post-marriage spouse treatment and proper behavior during engagement period) (p=0.015). CONCLUSION: From students’ point of view, the most wanted consulting needs were those in the scopes of job requirements and emotional needs.
