Validity and Reliability of Teachers` Evaluation Questionnaires from Students Point of View in Tehran University of Medical Sciences

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: According to the importance of applying proper questionnaires to achieve students` round and comprehensive views about teacher evaluation, this study is conducted to assess the validity and reliability of these questionnaires among the students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in both theoretical and field courses. METHODS: This cross-sectional study (2013) was aimed to validate the questionnaires related to teachers evaluation. In order to ensure face validity, viewpoints of 7 experts were collected. For checking content validity, Lawshe method was applied to estimate CVR and CVI applying 40 faculty members veiwpoints. Reliability was confirmed using split half method on 125 selected students. Chronbach's alpha was applied for each part and Spearman correlation was used for assessment the internal correlation of the whole questionnaire. FINDINGS: Findings showed that each question in both theoretical and field forms has CVR more than 0.29 that considered as the least level of validity, CVI for theoretical form was more than 0.79 as validity record, although the quality of training in practical skills and professional ethics had no acceptable CVI. Moreover, the reliability of both forms were confirmed. CONCLUSION: According to the present findings, validity and reliability of the questionnaires in theoretical courses was confirmed and for field courses it is recommended to apply specific and practical forms considering the type and content of professional education in each group and faculty.
